...25 pages of a notarised patent for a medicine, from Japanese to Persian, to deliver tomorrow, cannot cost as much as a simple French note, to deliver in English within a fortnight!

Price for any translation depends on 4 factors:
Language Pair
"From which language
to which language?"
An experienced Spanish linguist translating into English is easier to find than say, a Finnish linguist able to translate to or from Dagbani (one of the languages in Ghana) for instance:
the language pair will have an impact on the price of the translation.
Deadline
"How urgent
is it?"

How urgent your translation is
will, of course, impact on the final price, especially if the volume,
or length of your source document,
is important.
Volume
"How long
is your document?"
The volume, or length of the document is calculated per word, not per page. Otherwise, clients would send a lot of tiny words on a very big page!
Of course, a longer document will cost you more.

Certified?

If you need to have your translation certified, or notarised, this will also have an impact on the price
as we need the translator to be certified in his/ her own name:
